Axgro Foods are delighted to announce the formation of a new sister company, The Lincolnshire Vegetable Company Ltd. This company will specialise in the production of frozen potato products and value added vegetable products, predominately for foodservice accounts.
The Lincolnshire Vegetable Company will be based at a new site which has been acquired in Scunthorpe. The factory is a dedicated, stand alone food manufacturing site which has been converted to handle vegetables.
Facilities have been installed to process vegetables in a number of ways including baking, roasting, steaming and boiling. There is a large High Care preparation and assembly facilities and extensive packing and storage space.
The introduction of these extra facilities represent an important step by the Company into convenient value added vegetable products and free up a substantial amount of High Care food preparation facilities at the West Butterwick Sit
Sandwich fillers launch
Spring 2006 sees the launch of an exciting new fillings range from Axgro Foods.
The products, which are branded “Quick Cuisine”, see the introduction of sauce based fillings and marinated meats which increase the convenience and flexibility of the products.
New recipes include Italian Chicken, Green Thai Chicken, BBQ Pork & Peppers and Hoi Sin Duck. Authentic herbs and spices are used to produce high quality heat stable products that can be served cold or warmed to be served with jacket potatoes or on a tasty salad.

Beetroot - 'Wonder Vegetable' 2006!
Recent publicity surrounding the nutritional benefits of beetroot has helped Axgro reach record sales levels. Demand for all formats (fresh prepacked, Long Life, diced, flavoured etc) is substantially higher than previous years and there is no sign of enthusiasm reducing!
Beetroot is a valuable source of a number of important nutrients. It has an extremely low “GI” value. It is high in folic acid. Claims have been made that it has anti-carcinogenic properties. It is high in boron (hence Aphrodite’s alleged interest in the product!). And it is an important contributor to a health “5 a day” diet.
Axgro Foods is one of the largest processors of beetroot in the UK. A very large proportion of the beetroot we process is grown on farms surrounding the factory, hence cutting down on food miles and ensuring close control over crops, storage and grading of the materials.
Beetroot is processed in our School Lane site in West Butterwick for retailers, wholesale distributors, manufacturers and caterers. Recipes and specifications are developed with our customers and produced in our factory under tight technical control to ensure only the highest quality product.
